Trick or treat bag tutorial

You should have:
1- 14x12 front Halloween print panel
1- 14x12 black back panel
2- 14x12 orange lining panels
2-  44x3 orange straps

Step one:
Laying the strap out, fold each cut side in toward each other until they meet in the middle and iron flat. Fold in half so ironed edges meet and iron once again.

Step two:
Sew along side open edge the whole length of strap.

I like to sew along the other edge also so I have a guide for sewing the strap on the bag but you don't have to.

Step three:
Place on orange panel on top of front panel, right sides facing each other and sew along the top edge. Do the same for remaining orange panel and back panel.

Iron seams flat.

Step four:
Pin one strap on each of the front and back panels. The strap are extra long so you can determine how long you want them to be.

Step five:
Attach the strap to the front or back panel by sewing along the stitching on the strap and place reinforcement stitches where the strap hits the top of the front or back panels. The strap should not be attached to either of the orange panels. (I'm sure you have already figured that out but the this photo might be a bit misleading)

Step six:
With sewn on straps resting between, line up panels right sides facing each other. (orange to orange and front to back)  Sew along side edges leaving a space a few inches wide at the bottom of the orange panels.

Step seven: making the box corners

Take a corner and line up the seams so it creates a triangle. I like to measure an inch from the tip of the triangle and mark a straight line across. You can deicide how far down you want to measure. Sew along marked line. I like to reinforce it by sewing over it again. Repeat for each corner.

Corners should end up looking like this.

Cut the tip of the triangle off along the outside of the seam. Be sure to leave at least a 1/4 inch seam on outside of seam.

Step eight:
Through the opening in the bottom of the orange panels, pull the bag right side out.

Step nine:
Fold in the opening of the orange lining so the seam will be even and sew along the edge. I am a bit lazy so I just do it with the sewing machine but you can make it look really nice if you do it by hand.

Step ten:
Fold the lining into the bag and iron the edges. You can stitch along side the top seam if you want.

TaDa! You're finished. Happy trick or treating!
